Roman

My name is Roman. I'm 20 years old and I live in both Brooklyn, NY and Long Island, depending on the time of year. I get around.

It’s creepy sometimes just how good Picasa’s facial recognition algorithms are.
Once upon a time I scanned some very old photos for Dad’s genealogy/ancestry project of sorts.
After Picasa pointed out that there were unnamed people in a recent photo I took, I typed in my grandmother’s name.
I was surprised to see that a young woman was automatically grouped together in my grandma’s ‘person’ album, to realize that some of those old photos I scanned included my grandma at a very young age. I would have never matched the person in the old photo to my grandma on my own, but now it’s much easier to see the similarities side by side and conclude that it is indeed my grandma in the old photo =).
Consumer technology is getting more and more powerful and sophisticated.
